A basic guide to how to spend your winters

Half of December has already been passed. Snowfall at hill stations is a daily thing now. Long boots, hot cocoa, warm caps, and a cozy fireplace in the house are everywhere. We get out of the house, most of us wrapped in layers of clothes like a burrito roll.

Winter also brings the grey gloomy sky that makes this season look unreal. Apart from its perks, winters can also be harsh. From the wrenching breeze to heavy snowstorms, everything is possible. Therefore we all need to take care of ourselves, both mentally and physically.

Here’s what you can do to spend your winters without any worries.

Eat well

The chances of getting a cold or flu get higher as winters come. In order to build the immune system, one needs to eat healthy food. The inclusion of omega 3 is a must. The fatty acid is said to lower the levels of depression that may arise during the winter season. Also, add soluble fiber in your diet that ensures immunity boost and also reduces inflammation in the body.

Take steam regularly

Taking steam regularly especially in winters is very beneficial for the body. Steam warms the mucous membranes and gives mucous the room for venting out from the body. Steam clears up nasal passages and it also leaves the skin pores freshened and regenerated.

Winter blues are common these days and there are some effective ways of dealing with the gloomy mood. One of the best ways is to meditate. As the cold weather gets extremely exhausting, the body loses all the capacity to be internally warm. Try meditating for five minutes on daily basis and you will observe satisfying long-lasting effects.

Stay hydrated

60% of your body is water and is essential for every cell in the body. Water makes keeps skin supple, helps muscles and joints work better, and promotes detoxification. Since the water consumption reduces in this weather, make sure that you stay hydrated inside and out.

Don’t skip the supplements

Vitamin D is necessary for maintaining health and immunity. Vitamin C promotes the growth, development, and repair of all body tissues. In winters we often focus on warm comfort foods like hot chocolate, coffee, etc., and skip the essential nutrients. Try getting out of the house whenever it’s a sunny day. Have oranges for vitamin C consumption. Supplements keep your skin healthy and fresh.

Herbal Tea

Herbal tea has been proven to be one of the healthiest beverages in the world. It has many benefits including digestion, detoxification, and weight loss. Herbal tea is rich in minerals and vitamins and helps to refresh your mind. Herbal tea can also act as a mild antidepressant.

Walk regularly

In order to keep the body warm and healthy all day, try walking for at least 30 minutes in the morning. Find a track that is easy to walk on and has a lot of trees. Inhaling fresh air and walking will keep your body and mind fresh for the rest of the day.
